Farmer fined for pollution offence

A COUNTY Armagh farmer pleaded guilty and was fined £600 plus £25 court costs at Armagh Magistrates’ Court.

Richard Neil Frazer, of Drumgaw Road, Armagh, Co Armagh, was fined for making a polluting discharge to a waterway.

On 10 June 2011,a Water Quality Inspector acting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency observed farm effluent entering an unnamed tributary of the Callan River. T

he source of the polluting discharge was traced to a farm owned by Mr Frazer. The waterway was polluted for a distance in access of 350m.
