The old Carnagh Country House Hotel in Keady is now being advertised for sale as a ‘building site’ – at less than half the original price.
The former hotel, situated in the heart of Carnagh Forest, is up for grabs for a mere £60,000.
That includes the old Carnagh House and its immediate surroundings – a five acre site in one of the county’s most picturesque areas.
Carnagh Country House – on the Castleblaney Road – was extensively damaged in a fire some years back and was to close altogether.
Hopes had been high that it might be redeveloped, as it had been a popular attractions on the outskirts of the south Armagh town.
Indeed, planning permission was granted back in October 2009 for a new 10-bedroom hotel, restaurant and conference centre.
But, despite the approval, the development sadly never materialised.
It was later put on the market for sale.
Today the cost has been slashed to just £60,000.
According to the agents, renewed consent might be “looked upon favourably” for a bed and breakfast development by any buyer.
