Four drivers have today been given suspended prison sentences after a joint investigation two years ago at a Keady company.
Four drivers pleaded guilty and were convicted at Newry Crown Court for offences connected to fraud and forgery of tachograph records.
Sean Thornton, of Newry Road in Crossmaglen, and Daniel Crangle, of Castleward Road in Downpatrick, were each sentenced to 11 months imprisonment suspended for two years.
Jonathan Bell, from Croob Park, Inch, was sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for two years, while Thomas Keenan, from County Monaghan, was given a five month term, which was also suspended for two years.
The charges related to a joint investigation by the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) and PSNI, between April 2012 and September 2012, into the operation of vehicles owned by M&S Freight Forwarding Limited, Keady.
Each driver was charged with one offence of Fraud and Forgery. T
his covered a total of 68 records concealing a total of 6,380 miles.
