Free men’s health programme in Keady

A NUMBER of partners have joined forces to offer men in the Keady area a free 12 week healthier lifestyle programme.

Starting on Tuesday, September24,  from 7pm to 8.30pm in Keady Recreation Centre there will be weekly physical activity sessions and regular health information sessions which will cover a variety of men’s health related issues.

Dedicated staff will help motivate men on the programme by setting targets, measuring performance and providing support over the 12 week period. Those on the programme will also benefit from a health check at the beginning and end to monitor any changes over the duration.

Men wishing to be considered must complete and return an expression of interest form which can be obtained from Keady Recreation Centre, telephone 028 3753 8388 or e-mail keadyrec@armagh.gov.uk

Completed forms must be returned by Monday, September 9 at 12 noon – this does not guarantee a place as further eligibility criteria may be applied.

Gerry Bleakney, Head of Health and Social Wellbeing Improvement, (Southern Office) at the PHA, said: “We know that some men can be reluctant when it comes to looking after their own health, so we are encouraging men in the Keady area to use this programme as an opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing.

“There are a number of practical steps men can take such as enjoying regular exercise, having a balanced diet, watching how much alcohol they take and staying within the safe limits, stopping smoking and going along to your GP if you are concerned. All of these can improve your health and wellbeing and ultimately your quality of life.”
