Those responsible for dumping tonnes of waste at the scenic Carrigatuke Viewpoint have been branded “absolute tossers”.
The action group ‘Friends of Sliabh Fuait’ weren’t holding back after they were greeted with this sight earlier today (Saturday).
The Viewpoint, between Keady and Newtownhamilton, is a popular pilgrimage around Easter, making this mess even more damaging for the area ad its ability to attract visitors.
“The entrance to Carrickatuke this evening,” the post on the group’s Facebook read.
“On Easter bank holiday weekend this is what will greet the visitors heading up to enjoy this beautiful natural resource we have on our doorstep. Absolutely sickening.”
However, the group hope this practice will be no more when a number of measures are introduced in the coming months.
They said: “The days of using our local countryside as an easy, hassle-free way to get rid of your waste are almost up.
“We are almost at the point of introducing measures that will put an end to this disgusting practice once and for all. Stay tuned.
“To the absolute tossers, (we mean rubbish tossers of course) we are saying ‘wise up and take your rubbish to the skip’.
“We are working on getting this mess sorted out ASAP!”
