Fires started and alcohol cans dumped in Keady Play Park

'This is supposed to be a safe space in the community for children and young families to play safely, so this behaviour is absolutely unacceptable'

Anti-social behaviour at a play park in Keady must “stop immediately”, one local councillor has demanded.

Sinn Féin councillor Ashley Mallon has described the behaviour, which has seen small fires started, alcohol cans dumped and crude messages written, as “totally unacceptable”.

She said: “The playpark in Keady is large, well equipped and located in the heart of the town, however, some senseless individuals have seen fit to vandalise parts of the park.

“This is supposed to be a safe space in the community for children and young families to play safely, so this behaviour is absolutely unacceptable.”

She added: “I will be calling for a meeting on site with those responsible for the maintenance of the play park to discuss what measures can be taken to tackle the anti-social behaviour and to ensure it is kept in the best possible condition for the community.”
