Five people were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle road traffic accident earlier today (Sunday).
Police in Armagh received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the Darkley Road in the Aughnagurgan area this morning.
The collision, which involved a BMW and a Hyundai, was reported at around 10am.
The drivers of both vehicles, and a passenger in the BMW, were taken to hospital for injuries, not thought to be life threatening at this time.
Two passengers in the Hyundai were also taken to hospital as a precaution.
One eye-witness, who tended to the scene, said both cars were in a bad shape when she arrived.
Speaking to Armagh I, she said: “The crash was a pretty bad one; it really didn’t look good at all.
“There was a young girl in one of the cars; she was in quite a state, complaining of a sore abdomen and legs. Another man was in a state of shock on the roadside so we did what we could to calm him down.
“I was trying my best to calm the young girl down who was hysterical.”
She added: “In one of the cars there was a very young baby, I’d say no older than 3-4 months, maybe younger.
“Thankfully from what I know the baby was okay. The baby was taken from the car and placed in another car just to keep it warm.
“It’s all a little bit of a blur if I’m honest but we went on to an anniversary mass when the ambulance and others arrived to help.
“I just really hope everyone was okay.”
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Darkley Road area and witnessed the collision to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 742 of 29/10/17.
