A man accused of the murder of 11-month-old Hunter McGleenon in Keady last year intends to re-apply for bail, according to his barrister.
The 32-year-old’s legal representative commented that “a fair few items” were outstanding in the case, including a report from a pathologist in England which will take between four and six weeks to complete.
Sharyar Ali, of Westerna Terrace in Co Monaghan, appeared at Armagh Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, via videolink from Maghaberry Prison.
He is on remand charged with the murder of baby Hunter Patrick McGleenon on November 26 last year.
Previous courts have heard claims that Ali “crossed the border a number of times” while he was caring for the 11-month-old boy.
Speaking on Tuesday, defence barrister Aaron Thompson stated: “This is a murder case which dates back to November. His brother lives in Manchester and we have been liaising with him over Zoom.
“It has been difficult to consult with him in the prison, although he has been able to speak to his family over the phone.”
He added: “We intend to re-apply for bail in two weeks. There are a fair few items outstanding in the case.
“For one we have been told that there is a pathologist, specifically in England, who would take four to six weeks to complete his work on this case.”
The case was adjourned until June 16 for a bail application.
