Fuel laundering plant uncovered in Keady

Keady fuel laundering plant

A man has been arrested following the discovery of a fuel laundering plant in Keady earlier on Tuesday.

Police crews, along with HMRC officers, raided the property this morning.

The exact location of the property was not disclosed by HMRC or police.

A HMRC spokesperson said: “HMRC officers, supported by PSNI, discovered a fuel laundering plant in Co Armagh today. One male has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.”

A PSNI spokesperson added: “Earlier today, Armagh Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted our colleagues from HMRC in disrupting an illegal fuel laundering plant in the Keady area.

“Fuel laundering is not a victimless crime, it helps raise money for organised crime gangs, causes environmental pollution due to the hazardous byproduct which is usually discarded on local laneways around the country and can cause serious damage to your vehicles engine if used. If you have any information please contact police on 101 or 999 if an emergency.”
