A Keady man who faces charges relating to indecent photographs will face Crown Court proceedings next month.
The 74-year-old appeared at Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday via videolink from his home for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Michael Bell, of Fairgreen Park, is charged with 15 counts of making indecent photographs, four counts of possessing a prohibited image of a child, six counts of possessing an extreme pornographic image, three counts of distributing indecent photos of children, possessing an indecent photograph and taking or making an indecent photo of a child.
As the charges were read, it was heard that all are alleged to have been committed on various dates between July 2008 and June 2015.
Appearing via videolink from his home, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Patrick Taggart made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Bernie Kelly was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer and the defendant was released on his own bail of £500 to appear at Newry Crown Court on November 23 for arraignment.
Conditions of bail included not to have use of the internet and not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18.
