A man has been arrested for attempting to steal a tractor in a Co Armagh village this morning (Tuesday).
The suspect was initially detained by local people in the Darkley area, just outside Keady, before officers arrived on the scene within the last number of hours.
PSNI Inspector Leslie Badger said: “We have detained a male attempting to steal a tractor in the Darkley area of Armagh earlier this morning.
“He is now in police custody and arrested for further offences.
“He was initially detained by local people. Please report rural crime to police on 101.”
The incident follows a number of similar incidents in nearby Tassagh area over the weekend when a series of properties within close proximity of each other were targeted.
A red Massey Ferguson was taken from a property on Dundrum Road at around 3.30am on Saturday while a trailer worth several thousand pounds was stolen from outside a house on Keady Road in Tassagh at around 4am.
A Volkswagen van was also stolen from outside a property on the Newtownhamilton Road.
There are no suggestions, at this stage, that these crimes are connected.
