A man who breached an order banning him from being within 250 metres of his mother’s home has been fined £200.
Court heard the 53-year-old was stopped by police, close to the address, on a tractor on his way to pick up bales of silage.
Michael Tomany, of Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Prosecution outlined that on June 18, at 12.50pm, the defendant was found to have breached a non-molestation order when he was stopped on a tractor on the Clay Road in Keady.
The order prohibited Tomany from being within 250 metres of an address on that same road.
Defence solicitor Jarlath Fields stated: “The order is with regards to this gentleman’s mother and it is in the context of a bitter family dispute.
“He would say that when he spoke to police when the order was served that it said he could still pick up bales of silage from his field but he should have ensured that was the case.”
He added: “This is a man in a difficult situation with his family, he does have a record but nothing of this nature and I ask that he is given credit for his early plea.”
Tomany was ordered to pay a fine of £200, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 20 weeks.
