A man suspected of attempting to steal a tractor before being detained by locals in a small Co Armagh village this morning (Tuesday) has been released by police.
Officers investigating the incident have this afternoon confirmed the man has been released on bail pending further police inquiries.
The man was also arrested on suspicion of a number of other offences.
This morning’s incident follows a number of similar thefts in nearby Tassagh area over the weekend when a series of properties within close proximity of each other were targeted.
A red Massey Ferguson was taken from a property on Dundrum Road at around 3.30am on Saturday while a trailer worth several thousand pounds was stolen from outside a house on Keady Road in Tassagh at around 4am.
A Volkswagen van was also stolen from outside a property on the Newtownhamilton Road.
There are no suggestions, at this stage, that these crimes are connected.
