Outline permission sought for 22 new homes in Keady

Up to 22 new homes could be on the way to Keady with outline planning permission sought for a residential scheme along the Glen Road.

The proposal, currently at the outline planning stage, outlines ambitions to create a “medium-density” housing development that respects the existing character of the area.

The site, to the rear of Railway Crescent, will – according to the applicant Paul Ward – provide “a high-quality residential housing scheme on a strategically located site within the settlement limits of Keady”.

According to a submitted design and access statement, the development aims to provide a development “reflective of the existing strong character of the area”, while promoting a distinctive architectural style that both “attracts discussion” and establishes a unique identity for the site.

The layout has been carefully considered to ensure easy access for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users, as well as protecting the residential amenity of neighbouring properties.

A key goal of the development is to provide a “scheme in keeping with and respecting the surrounding context”, ensuring the new homes fit naturally within the existing semi-urban environment of Glen Road.

If outline permission is approved it would pave the way for the submission of a full application, where further details will be provided, down the line.

It is hoped the eventual development – if green-lit – would contribute much-needed housing stock to the area.
