The family of a farmer who remains ill in hospital with pneumonia have renewed their appeal for help to recover stolen cattle.
In all, 20 cattle were taken from the Barkers Road area of Newtownhamilton last Wednesday night.
Four of these were later found. And tonight, the family have confirmed a further five have been located in the Darkley area.
The elderly farmer, Gilbert Dougan, 62, has been in hospital with pneumonia.
His family turned to Armagh I and asked to make a public appeal.
Hundreds of you shared the post and today a family told us: “Today someone from the Darkley area got in contact to say there were cattle in their neighbour’s field, which were not their own, so five more have been found leaving 11 more missing.”
She added: “Darkley would be around 10 miles from our farm so they have been took there and left, so whether the rest are in that area or dotted around the country we don’t know; all we know is the more people who are aware of our situation the more chance we have of retrieving the cattle before they disappear altogether.
“The response has been fantastic, the general public are so helpful. We just need people who have land to keep an eye out for any strange animals on it that they don’t own for others to keep an look-out for cattle in fields as 99 percent of cattle will be in a house right now, so its strange to see these animals on the road or in fields at this time of year.”
There was a mix of Charolais, Simmental and Black Whiteheads ranging from 350kg to 450kg.
