Police are investigating a suspected arson attack on a car in the Co Armagh village of Darkley last weekend.
A vehicle on Moss Row was set alight and completely destroyed, while an adjacent house – albeit derelict – was also badly damaged.
A neighbouring house suffered smoke damaged and has forced that resident from their home.
The incident is understood to be unrelated to any of the residents living in the village with the car potentially dumped in the area.
SDLP Councillor Thomas O’Hanlon commented: “Over the last week I have been working with the residents of Moss Row, Darkley in relation to the removal of this burnt out vehicle.
“I’ve liaised between residents, Council and the PSNI. It’s hoped this will be removed on Friday. A clean up of the area by council will follow.
“It’s important to highlight this incident is being investigated by the PSNI, however let me be categorically clear, this is absolutely nothing to do with the good people of Darkley.
“Local residents are absolutely disgusted that this has happened in their area.
“I’ll be meeting with the police in relation to this incident and seeking assurances that those behind this will be caught and held accountable.
“This is not Darkley and nothing to do with the people of Darkley.”
