Tributes have been paid to a well-known and widely loved Keady man with a “heart of gold”.
James ‘Jimmy’ Renaghan passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Tuesday, November 11.
He was the “loving daddy” of four, Padraig, Teirnan, Tara and Kaidiann and “beloved” husband of Helen.
Jimmy was a well-known figure on the darts scene, having played previously within The Armagh Keady Darts League.
Offering their condolences, a spokesperson for the League said: “The Armagh/Keady Darts League would like to offer our condolences to the family of our past member Jimmy Renaghan on his passing may he RIP.”
A friend and fellow thrower added: “Totally heartbroken to hear the news of Jimmy’s passing a good friend for well over 30 years, a darts and pool team mate, you will be missed from the Gardens condolences to Helen and children and all the Renaghan family GBNF.”
Remembering Jimmy, many have said he would never have passed on the street without a wave or friendly “hello”. He had a kind word and a smile for everyone.
A former colleague said: “Another good man of the Mountney Road gone too soon. Worked with you over the years, never a dull moment. God bless you R.I.P Jimmy. May God rest your soul.”
A death notice described him as the cherished son of the late Pat and Winnie, brother of the late Anne Marie RIP, and dearest son-in-law of the late Ken Treanor.
His Funeral is due to take place on Friday at St Patrick’s Church Keady for 11am Requiem Mass. Burial will follow afterwards in the church cemetery.
