Keady’s Clay Lake work beats Ravenhill Stadium to engineering award

NI Water’s contractor, Lagan Construction Group, recently scooped a prestigious CEF award in recognition of their work on upgrading NI Water’s Clay Lake Water Treatment Works in Keady, County Armagh.

Clay Lake also won the overall utilities infrastructure accolade, beating off tough competition from 14 other category winners, including the redevelopment of Ravenhill Rugby Stadium by Gilbert-Ash.

Clay Lake Water Treatment Works supplies drinking water to Keady and the surrounding area and was recently upgraded to improve services to customers.

The £2.7 million project at the plant will meet local demands and will ensure that the drinking water quality supplied to Keady and the surrounding area meets future stringent EU standards.

A packed Culloden Hotel hosted the prestigious ceremony which is now firmly established as the highlight of the construction calendar in Northern Ireland.

The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) is the certified representative body for the construction industry in Northern Ireland. The organisation has over 1200 member companies ranging from micro businesses employing a handful of people to the largest construction companies in Northern Ireland. In total, CEF member companies account for over 70% of construction output.

The Federation represents the industry’s views across a wide range of issues including procurement, planning, infrastructure investment, housing, environment, training, health and safety, and employment.
