The Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for Newry and Armagh, Danny Kennedy MLA, has warmly congratulated local farmers on achieving recognition at the recent Farming Life/Danske Bank Awards.
Mr Kennedy extended particular congratulations to South Armagh farmers Roy and David Harpur on winning Dairy Farmer of the Year, and William Irvine who was Highly Commended in the same category.
Expressing his delight at the success of the local farmers, Mr Kennedy said: “I have known these farmers for many years on a personal level and I warmly congratulate them. These awards are due and proper recognition for their dedication and hard work within the agricultural industry. The entire community will join me in offering warm congratulations.
“I also pay tribute to a number of other County Armagh farmers and firms who either won awards or were nominated for prizes by Farming Life and Danske Bank, the main sponsors of the Gala Evening.
“It is very clear that County Armagh farmers are the leading exponents of good practice and high quality expertise within Northern Ireland’s Agricultural Industry. We must continue to support our farmers in the fight for just and proper recognition and recompense.”
