A Co. Armagh football club has paid tribute after a popular member of its bar staff passed away suddenly on New Year’s Day.
Arlene Hardy, who was a barmaid at Loughgall FC, passed away at her home in Dungannon on Wednesday.
The club has since posted a tribute to the mother-of-three, describing her as a “mother figure” in the club.
It read: “With heavy hearts we share the passing of our much loved Barmaid Arlene, like a mother figure amongst our bar staff and more than a barmaid to our customers.
“Arlene will be sorely missed by everyone in the club but especially by her wee family , we will be keeping them in our thoughts. Rest easy Arlene.”
According to a death notice, Arlene was the dearly loved mother of Ellie, Zack and Eden, the much loved daughter of Freda and a dear sister of Noel and Sharon.
Her funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, with the family requesting the house remain strictly private.
Following the news of her passing, hundreds took to social media to convey their condolences, a testament to just how well loved Arlene was.
One friend posted: “No words can describe hearing this Heart-breaking news. Arlene was my very beautiful best friend in high school. We had so many wonderful times and made so many happy and funny memories together in our teens.
“My heart go out to Freda, Noel and Sharon, and Arlene’s three children Ellie, Zack & Eden. Please may you all find peace in knowing Arlene was the best in the world! I am devastated beyond words.”
Another said: “Such heart-breaking news. Arlene was so loved by so many, always had time for everyone and a chat and a laugh. Sincere condolences to all her family, especially her children.”
A third added: “I’m so very sorry to hear this. Any time I met Arlene she was a genuine ray sunshine, always up for a chat and a laugh. My heart breaks for her children and her family and friends that loved her.”
