A Lurgan man who breached his bail by using a mobile phone whilst facing charges relating to the supply of drugs has been readmitted to bail on the same terms.
Police are alleged to have found a cannabis plant, “edible brownie cakes, deal bags, scales, a number of diazepam tablets and £775 in cash” during a search of the 30-year-old’s home back in April.
Aaron Toman, of Belvedere Manor, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, via videolink from police custody, on foot of an alleged bail breach.
The defendant is charged with cultivating cannabis, possession of Class B, possession of Class B with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of Class B, being concerned in the supply of Class C, possession of criminal property and possession of Class C drugs.
A constable outlined how police had stopped Toman in a vehicle on June 24. During this time it was ascertained that he was on bail with a condition not to have a device which has access to the internet.
The defendant was found to be in possession of a mobile phone and was subsequently arrested.
Giving a background to the index offences, the constable stated that during another drug related investigation police had seized a phone.
This was analysed with a number of messages regarding the supply of Class B and C allegedly being sent between the owner of this device and a Facebook account police believe to be linked to this defendant.
As a result, on April 8, police conducted a search of Toman’s home in Lurgan.
During this, officers located a cannabis plant which was ready for cutting along with a plastic container containing, two sandwich bags of cannabis, one of which had been separated into deal bags.
Court heard police also found “edible brownie cakes, deal bags, scales, a number of diazepam tablets and £775 in cash”.
Speaking in court, the defendant intimated that he had not fully understood that the prohibition on devices with access to the internet was still live and commented he had “never been before the court”.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes granted Toman bail on the same terms with the defendant being given five hours in which to hand the phone to someone else.
