Traders in Lurgan are increasingly concerned over a loss of business following the partial collapse of a building on North Street last week.
A gable wall of the Foresters building, which has been undergoing extensive restoration work in recent weeks, collapsed last Thursday.
While the street has since re-opened for pedestrians, traffic remains cut off.
Sinn Féin councillor, and Deputy Mayor of ABC Council, Sorchá McGeown has asked Council to organise a meeting with those affected traders in North Street, as well all relevant agencies.
“North Street is a busy shopping street and while the street and shops remain open for business the closure of the street to traffic is causing distribution and concern to traders,” said Councillor McGeown.
“I have spoken to the Chair of the Council’s Economic Committee, Cllr Kevin Savage and asked him to liaise with Council officers about the situation and for Council to organise an urgent meeting with traders and the relevant agencies.
“It’s vitally important traders are kept updated about plans to reopen the road and the public are assured North street is open for business.”
