A Co Armagh man has died following a road traffic collision in Co Donegal over the weekend.
The man, who was in his 20s and understood to be from the Lurgan area, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle crash on the R232 at Fincashel, Pettigo, on Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2026.
The collision, involving a car and a 4×4 vehicle, occurred at around 2.45pm.
A Garda spokesperson said: “The driver of the car, a male in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Letterkenny.
“A passenger in the car, a female in her 20s, was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle, a male in his 60s, was also brought to hospital for assessment only.”
The road has since re-opened following a full technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
Gardaí have launched an appeal for witnesses and information.
They are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the R232 near Pettigo at the time of the collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam or mobile phone recordings) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
