A man has tragically died following an incident at a farm near Donaghcloney today (Saturday).
Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident along the Ballygowan Road earlier this afternoon.
It is understood the man – a well-known farmer in the area – was working on an outbuilding when he fell through a roof.
The Air Ambulance, with the HEMS team on board, were despatched to the scene.
The man was air lifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
DUP Councillor Mark Baxter, speaking to Armagh I, said the community have been left stunned by the tragedy.
“He was a quiet, unassuming man – everyone liked him,” Councillor Baxter said of the victim.
“He came from a well-respected family in the area and this news will reverberate around the rural community here.
“This is an awful tragedy and my thoughts are with his family at this time.
“This community will undoubtedly rally behind them in the days, weeks and months ahead as they come to terms with this awful loss.”
The Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the incident.
