Convergence at Lurgan Castle hits back at hate speech comments made online

'We won’t tolerate anyone attempting to hijack Convergence – the festival is for everyone'

With just one month to go until the Convergence at Lurgan Castle Music Festival, event organisers have spoken out against a series of unwarranted online comments
that have been made by individuals, they say, are seeking to promote an agenda of hate.

Convergence is as the name suggests – a coming together of people from all walks of life to experience eight hours of live music and DJs – will start with an 80’s and 90’s disco followed by live music culminating in the festival’s headliners… The Magic Numbers fresh from their appearance at Glastonbury.

Festival Director, Patricia Killoran explains: “Convergence is a completely independent music festival with no association whatsoever with either the Orange
Lodge or any political parties.

We’re just about bringing world class bands like The Magic Numbers to the town and creating an environment where music lovers can come and have a great time without having to travel all the way to Belfast.”

“We have a great location here at Lurgan Castle and whilst the grounds are owned by Lurgan District Lodge, that has nothing to do with the type of music, artists or
anything that Convergence stands for – we’re completely separate to the Lodge.”

A series of online comments made over recent weeks have sought to politicise the festival, forcing the organisers to speak out and clarify the situation.

“We won’t tolerate anyone attempting to hijack Convergence – the festival is for everyone,” said Patricia.

Whilst this is Convergence’s first year at the Castle, the goal is to build on this, and the organisers have already started to reach out to potential headliners for 2026.

Convergence is also working with local mental health charity, Just a Chat and Patricia has said that she’s, “at a loss for why certain people are aimed at ‘torpedoing; the festival.”

The stunning Brownlow/Lurgan Castle venue has the capacity to hold up to 4,000 revellers thus providing ample room for growth.

Tickets continue to sell at a steady pace with a second release offering 250 additional places issued at the weekend.
