Police are investigating a suspicious approach to a young female near a Lurgan primary school this afternoon (Monday).
Officers received a report shortly after 2pm of a man acting suspiciously in the Avenue Road area of the town.
DUP councillor Stephen Moutray said the incident occurred as a young person was on their way to collect a child from school near Lurgan Park.
“I’m aware that an incident took place today where a young person going to collect a child from school was approached by a man dressed in black with a black hoodie and offered sweets etc,” he said.
“Thankfully the young lady declined all approaches and reported the incident. I have spoken to the Principal and PSNI in relation to this.
“It is important that everyone is vigilant in relation to people hanging around school entrances and report anything odd.”
Police have not released a fuller description of the man at this stage but say enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual involved.
