A young Co Armagh woman has proved she is a cut above when it comes to supporting good causes.
Kelly-Louise Quinn braved the shave and shed her long locks to raise money for our NHS Heroes.
The 24-year-old, from Lurgan, has joined numerous others in coming up with their own fundraising ideas to help the frontline teams who are battling to save lives amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
And to the mother-of-four is hoping that people might donate to her cause via a JustGiving page, which has so far raised over £300.
Kelly-Louise admits it was a nervous time going under the scissors but she wanted to give something back to those who are day and daily putting themselves at risk for all of us.
And her young children found it quite a different look for mummy but were 100 per cent behind her when she explained why.
Kelly-Louise told Armagh I : “I did this to raise money for our amazing NHS workers who are putting their lives on the line to keep us safe and I wanted to show my appreciation by raising money for them to get the personal proective equipment they need.
“I wanted to show support by raising as much money as a way of saying thank-you.
“When the time came to shave my hair my anxiety hit massively and I cried but my amazing husband supported me and said I could do it.
“If it wasn’t for him I know that my anxiety would’ve stopped me because, for most women like myself, their hair is like a comfort blanket and is a major part of a woman, but it was still only a small sacrifice compared to our NHS staff, who are risking the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to still do their jobs and help the sick.
“The coronavirus was such an unexpected thing to hit and I just think they need to get all the support, gratitude and appreciation that they deserve.
“So anything, big or small, it all adds up, and wouldn’t it be nice to feel like everyone was a part of this amazing cause?
“When I woke up the next morning after having it done my kids could barely look at me.
“My eight-month-old baby didn’t know who I was but when I set my three other kids down and told them why I did it they were all so proud of me. They hugged me and wanted to help me in any way they can.
“So after all this if I’ve achieved anything I have achieved my children being proud of me.”
