Lurgan man allegedly ‘held firearm to woman’s head’

A Lurgan man has been accused of trying to intimidate a woman by holding “a firearm to her head”.

Daniel Duffy, of James Street, is also charged with possessing a handgun in suspicious circumstances on the same day – May 12 last year.

He is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on and non-fatal strangulation of the woman on May 2 last year.

Other charges include criminal damage and domestic abuse.

Craigavon Magistrates’ Court heard a preliminary enquiry – the legal step to potentially send the case to the Crown Court – is due to be held on June 13.

A preliminary enquiry is also due to be held in connection with other charges the defendant faces – sending a threatening message and improper use of a communications network on September 26 last year.

He is also charged with possessing Class C drugs on October 11 last year.

The defendant, with an address listed on two of his charge sheets as Oakfield Close in Moy, appeared at court via video link from prison.

The cases were adjourned to May 30.
