Lurgan is the latest of the local agricultural shows to be cancelled due to Covid-19.

The event, which is traditionally held on the first Saturday in June, is off for the second year running.

The organisers, Lurgan & District Horse & Cattle Show Society Ltd, made the announcement late on Tuesday night.

A spokesperson said: “It is with deep regret that after careful consideration, the Lurgan & District Horse & Cattle Show Society Ltd as promoters of the Lurgan Show, announce the cancellation of the June 2021 event owing to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

“From all of us here at Lurgan Show, we wish you well during these difficult times. Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Lurgan when it may again be safe to do so.”

The announcement came just days after the Armagh Show Committee confirmed its event – which would have been held the following week at Gosford Forest Park, Markethill – had also been called off due to Covid-19.
