The former Danske Bank building in Lurgan is up for sale.
The iconic red-brick listed building – at 39 Market Street – is being sold off after the bank decided to quit the County Armagh town.
Danske announced in May that it was pulling the plug on the town centre branch, as well as others in Cookstown, Kilkeel and Fivemiletown.
Aisling Press, Danske Bank’s Managing Director of Personal Banking, said at the time: “The world around us is changing constantly, and the world of banking changes with it.
“Alongside that, the needs and expectations of our customers evolve, and in the last number of years, the way customers use branches has changed considerably.”
The shutters came down on the Lurgan property for the last time in mid-September, much to the disapproval of local politicians who expressed concern at the ongoing loss of banking services from the town. There had been calls for a rethink but to no avail.
And now, weeks after Danske Bank actually shut up shop and the property is up for sale.
It is being marketed by Osborne King and offers are being sought in excess of £255,000.

The two-and-a-half storey building boasts floorspace of almost 5,300 sq on a corner location with car parking for around a dozen vehicles to the rear.
The agents, who believe the property will prove popular, advise: “Internally the ground floor of the building comprises a sizeable banking hall with additional office accommodation benefitting from good floor to ceiling height.
“The upper floors of the premises provide modern office accommodation with a range of staff facilities. The building has been well maintained and provides good finishes throughout.”
This is the second Lurgan bank premises to go on the market this year.
The First Trust Bank building – also at Market Street – was put on the market back in March.
It had closed in November 2021, having been identified in July last year as one of seven First Trust branches earmarked for closure.
Market Street in Lurgan has been renowned for generations as the heart of the local banking services and still is home to both Santander and Ulster Bank branches.
Osborne King is hopeful a new tenant can be found as it points out: “The property is located on the corner of Market Street and Carnegie Street providing a prominent site within the heart of the town centre.”
