Lurgan’s fourth former bank premises enters the property market

In order, Lurgan lost the in-branch banking services of First Trust in 2021, Danske Bank in 2022, Halifax in 2023 and Ulster Bank in 2024

Yet another former banking premises in Lurgan has gone on the market… making it the fourth in five years to seek new owners.

The now vacant Halifax building – on Market Street – is the latest to invite offers from prospective buyers, following hot on the heels of Danske Bank, First Trust and Ulster Bank.

In order, Lurgan lost the in-branch banking services of First Trust in 2021, Danske Bank in 2022, Halifax in 2023 and Ulster Bank in 2024.

The properties have all subsequently been put to market in the hopes of revitalising the premises and restoring them to productive use.

Most notably, the former Danske Bank premises has now been approved for a mixed-use retail and residential development – complete with roof-top gardens!

But what will become of the former Halifax building – which is arguably much less suitable to residential development?

The building sits at the heart of Lurgan’s retail core and according to the listing agent – CBRE NI – is available with vacant possession.

Currently, the property is inviting offers over £140,000.

It comes with three “self-contained” upper floors, with the ground floor and basement consisting of a former banking hall, meeting rooms and staff accommodation.

Interested parties should contact CBRE NI directly.
