A County Armagh GAA club’s Darkness into Light Walk raise £1,000 for PIPS Hope and Support in Newry.

Darkness Into Light has been in formation since 2009. Sponsored by Electric Ireland, the initiative encourages communities across the globe every year to walk and use the event as an opportunity to connect with their local community and show their support for those who have been impacted by suicide.

On May 8, Maghery GAC  hosted its first Darkness Into Light at the club to raise awareness of suicide prevention and vital funds for suicide prevention PIPS Hope and Support.

Through this, the club raised a amazing £1,000, which will assist PIPS Hope and Support to provide immediate therapy to anyone in the Southern Trust and Upper Bann area with suicidal thoughts, high levels of anxiety, poor mental health or bereaved by suicide.

Maghery GAC also launched a new sign promoting PIPS Hope and Support to encourage those to reach out and access the charities support if in distress or despair.

Club Chairman, Niall Forker, highlighted that Maghery GAC would like to thank everyone who attended and/or supported their fundraising event and thanked the club president for his support in providing the new PIPS Hope and Support sign at the pitch.

Fundraising Coordinator, Padraig Harte expressed PIPS Hope and Support’s thanks to Niall, the committee and everyone at aghery GAC for their support, donations and for highlighting our charity with the new pitch sign with thanks and appreciation to everyone who attended the first Darkness Into Light in Maghery.
