Major investment could see 78 new family homes for Lurgan with children’s play park at its heart

The development, if approved, would be built in a field north of the Belfast-Dublin railway line

Plans for 78 new homes in Lurgan

County Armagh’s housing sector could be in line for a further boost with formal plans lodged to build 78 new homes in Lurgan.

The proposals would represent a multi-million pound investment, with the planned development falling within the ‘major’ category of development.

A pre-application event took place last year which helped shape a full and final application just submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

The proposed development site is on lands to the ‘south east of Silverwood Avenue’, and north of the Belfast-to-Dublin railway line.

The applicant is D Gilmore Developments Ltd, a company based in Lurgan.

The plans, if approved, would see the construction of 78 new houses, comprising 38 detached and 40 semi-detached properties.

The new homes would be of varying size; the intention is to build 40 three-bedroom and 38 four-bedroom homes.

The development includes a total of 74 detached garages. There would also be a total of 219 parking spaces across the expansive site.

Infrastructure and landscaping, with hedges and planting, feature prominently in plans, with open space included too.

A children’s play area is also incorporated, given the scale of the development planned.

According to the application, the site in question is described currently as an “agricultural field”.

The proposals will now be advertised shortly.
