Man (18) released on bail following stabbing at Lurgan football club

An 18-year-old man, arrested by detectives investigating a stabbing at the Glenavon Football in Lurgan on Sunday, has been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

The 18-year-old male victim was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to serious head injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 4 of 4/4/25.

It is understood there were many people in the Club around the time of the incident.

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart said: “This is a very serious incident. My thoughts and prayers are with the young man who sustained the injuries. A terrible ordeal which could have ended with a very different outcome.”
Party colleague, Councillor Peter Haire, added: “Carla and I have spoken with the PSNI today, and we would strongly encourage anyone with information to come forward.
Police have stated that many people were present in the club around the time of the incident. If you saw anything or have any information that could help with their enquiries, please contact the PSNI.”
