A 56-year-old man has been charged to court following a fire in Lurgan yesterday (Sunday).
He will appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday) on one charge of arson with intent to endanger life.
As is usual procedure, the charge will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
Police received reports of the fire at a residential premises at approximately 9.50pm in the Portlec Place area of the town yesterday.
A number of residents were in the property at the time, but no injuries were reported.
Detective Sergeant Stewart commented: “It appears that this was a deliberate arson attack.
“A 56-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody at this time, assisting detectives with their enquiries.”
