Man accused of burglary with intent to steal at Lidl in Lurgan set to go on trial

A man charged with burglary of Lidl in Lurgan with intent to steal has had his case sent to Craigavon Crown Court.

Justin Robinson (26), of no fixed abode in Lurgan, is also charged with causing criminal damage to a glass door at Lidl on the same day – January 20 this year.

He is also charged with causing criminal damage to a holding cell belonging to Northern Ireland Court Service on March 8 this year.

A defence lawyer told an earlier court “Lidl are estimating a £16,000 loss to them”.

On Friday the defendant appeared via video link from prison at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court.

The defence said there is an issue with one of the criminal damage charges. The “offence is based entirely on hearsay” but she said that could be raised at the Crown Court.

The defendant was further remanded in custody and the case was sent to Craigavon Crown Court for arraignment on September 9.
