Police investigating an attack on a woman in Lurgan Park earlier this week have arrested a 30-year-old man.
The suspect was detained in the Lurgan area early on Friday morning and is currently in police custody. He is due to be questioned on suspicion of offences including sexual assault.
The arrest follows a report of an incident in the park on the morning of Tuesday, November 18.
Police enquiries are ongoing, and officers continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
The incident has prompted increased patrols in and around Lurgan Park, a move welcomed by Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd.
Mr O’Dowd said the enhanced visibility of neighbourhood officers would provide reassurance to local people and act as a deterrent.
“I welcome the increased visibility of neighbourhood police officers in Lurgan Park,” he said.
“Their early-morning and late-evening patrols will help deter criminal activity and reassure those who use the park daily.”
