A man has been arrested and charged after a laser beam was reported to have been directed at a police helicopter in Lurgan.

The 20-year-old has been charged with shining or directing a laser beam towards a vehicle, endangering the safety of a vehicle, and shining a light to dazzle or distract a pilot.

A laser beam was reported to have been directed at a police helicopter in the Victoria Street area at around 11.15pm yesterday (Monday) evening.

He is expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court on September 12.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
