A man who was found to be over the limit after police observed him attempting to park has been handed a 12 month disqualification.
The 23-year-old, who represented himself in court, stated: “I am just sorry about it”.
Lukas Wojnar, of North Street, Lurgan pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Wednesday.
Prosecution outlined that on June 9, at around 4am, police were carrying out a missing persons search when they observed the defendant trying to park on North Street in Lurgan.
Officers watched as Wojnar exited the vehicle, as they approached him they noted that he smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared unsteady on his feet.
A preliminary breath test was carried out resulting in a fail, the defendant was subsequently conveyed to Lurgan Custody Suite.
An evidential sample was obtained which gave a reading of 49mg of alcohol in 100ml.
Wojnar elected to give a sample of blood for analysis this came back with a reading of 94mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood – the limit being 80mg.
The defendant told the court: “I am just sorry about it”.
Wojnar was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of £250, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within four weeks.
