A man who allowed a young boy to drive his vehicle must wait until next month to learn his fate.
Adjourning the 41-year-old’s case for presentence report, the deputy district judge commented: “A two-tonne killing machine and a 12-year-old child, I am not fussed on how far we went.”
Stefan Atanasov, of Spelga Park in Lurgan, pleaded guilty to permitting no insurance and aiding and abetting driving whilst disqualified by age at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, via videolink from his solicitor’s office.
Prosecution outlined that on September 22, at 3.30pm, police received a report of a youth driving a Seat Toledo in Spelga Park, Lurgan.
The witness claimed to have seen the boy, who appeared to be aged between 12 and 14, exit the vehicle and enter a nearby address.
Defence barrister Barry McKenna commented that the incident was “very foolish” and that the child had only travelled “a matter of feet”.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes stated: “A two-tonne killing machine and a 12-year-old child, I am not fussed on how far we went.”
The case was adjourned until April 16 for the preparation of a presentence report.
