A man who struggled with police as they tried to arrest him and headbutted one officer in the chin has been ordered to pay a fine of £250.
The deputy district judge also directed that the 46-year-old pay compensation of the same amount to the injured officer.
Valerijus Voronenko, of Chapel Street in Newry, pleaded guilty to one count of assault on police at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecution outlined that on October 25, police were called to an incident at an address on Trasna Way in Lurgan.
Officers made a number of inquires and during this they spoke to the defendant and placed him under arrest for a matter no longer before the court.
Voronenko became aggressive towards police. He struggled with officers and headbutted one of them in the chin.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes ordered the defendant to pay compensation of £250 to the injured officer and a fine of £250, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
