Motorist who collided with parked cars in Lurgan was almost four times the drink drive limit

Craigavon Magistrates Court

A motorist was almost four times the drink drive limit when she collided with parked vehicles at Lough Road in Lurgan.

Caragh Reid, of Woodville Gate in Lurgan, admitted driving with excess alcohol and driving carelessly on November 20 last year.

Craigavon Magistrates’ Court was told the 40-year-old had an alcohol in breath reading of 136 – the legal limit is 35.

The court heard it had been a “wake-up call” for the defendant.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan said it was a “sad case”.

He said there were “very unfortunate circumstances” and despite the high reading he was taking the “very unusual step” of keeping the ban to one year ban.

The defendant was also fined £200.
