Damien Campbell has been announced as the new head rugby coach for Lurgan RF&CC.

A qualified Level 4 Coach, Damien moves to Lurgan from Rainey Old Boys RFC where he spent several years as head forwards coach. During his successful tenure, the club made history in 2019, winning the Ulster Senior League for the first time.

Currently a teacher and rugby coach for Craigavon Senior High School, Damien coached the school team to victory in the Ulster High Schools Cup Finals in 2019 and 2020.

Club President Mark Prentice said: “Damien Campbell is a highly accomplished coach who brings with him a wealth of experience, a legacy of success and an infectious enthusiasm that I have no doubt will help drive our club forward.

“We are privileged to have secured Damien’s services and I have every confidence in his ability to help deliver success for all our Lurgan teams. I wish him and all the players well for the new season.”

Commenting on his new role, Damien said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed head coach at Lurgan, where I have already received a warm welcome.

“There is an abundance of talent at the club and the players are rightly ambitious. I am very much looking forward to working with them to get the very best out of all the teams and I can’t wait to get stuck in to pre-season training.”
