Permission sought to transform first floor of commercial premises in Lurgan into two apartments

It relates to the first floor space of 67 Edward Street, which had formerly been used as commercial and office space

A commercial premises on an arterial route in Lurgan could be set for redevelopment into two new, self-contained apartments.

A request for change of use to the premises was submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council in the name of Mr and Mrs Hughes.

It relates to the first floor space of 67 Edward Street, which had formerly been used as commercial and office space.

The ground floor of the property – which will remain unchanged under proposals – is currently occupied by Byrne McCann & Co Chartered Accountants.

Permission is being sought to develop the space into two separate one-bedroom apartments, each with their own open plan kitchen and living space, a bedroom and separate shower room.

Access would be gained to the apartments from an entryway at the front of the building on Edward Street.

The entrance would lead directly to a stairwell onto the first floor where a small landing would provide access to the apartments.

A store would also be accessible from the landing.

No additional parking spaces are to be introduced under proposals.

The application is due to be advertised shortly.
