Police are investigating an horrific and shocking case of animal cruelty in Co Armagh on Monday evening.
Officers have responded quickly to the alleged case at a flat in the Ailsbury Park area of Lurgan.
A young woman posted a status outlining details of how an 11-week-old puppy was brutally killed.
A 16-year-old boy and 23-year-old man were arrested.
For the sake of sensitivity, we will not be repeating how the beautiful little puppy died.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “In relation to the previously mentioned animal cruelty investigation that is on going in the Lurgan area.
“Two suspects have been arrested and the investigation is still in its early stages.
“However there are people who appear to be running their own investigations and accusing people without being in possession of the full facts.
“We acknowledge that this is an emotive subject for many, however if you have any information please contact 101 quoting reference 1135 05/02/18.
“Also we advise to not post the information in a public forum or to directly contact those whom you believe to be responsible for this incident.”
The sheer depraved nature of the incident has left a community stunned.
One woman said: “Can’t believe how people can be so cruel why have a dog if u can’t keep it safe my hearts broke reading and seeing the pic of the poor wee thing all it wanted was a loving family to take care of it the people that done this needs to be punished hard.”
Another added: “This is sickening. Cannot believe there are individuals living amongst us who are capable of this on a defenceless animal. Jail is too good for evil scum like this. They need taken down an alleyway and given the same treatment and more.”
One woman asked for more “than a measly slap on the wrist and a ban from owning animals for a year”.
