A second banner proclaiming support for a soldier accused of murdering a civilian on Bloody Sunday has been erected in a Co Armagh town in less than a month.
The banner has appeared in Lurgan town centre, two weeks after a similar banner appeared in Portadown.
A Sinn Fein representative for Lurgan, Sorcha McGeown, is also calling on authorities to have it removed immediately.
Ms McGeown says the banner is causing “community division”.
“The banner proclaiming support for a murder suspect is not appropriate,” she said.
“The victims of Bloody Sunday deserve the truth just as much as any victim of the conflict.
“Lurgan traders face enough challenges to maintain their businesses without this display which has the potential to turn many shoppers away from the town.
“The banner should be removed immediately.”
