A Co Armagh haulage company is planning a significant investment in new office accommodation at its base near Lurgan.
Hannon Transport, on the Brankinstown Road in Aghalee, was founded in 1994 with a single unit.
Today, it operates bases in Dublin, France and the Netherlands, although Co Armagh remains the ‘lead company; in the group, according to its website, providing core administrative, planning and fleet management services.
“Our main office and operational facilities are located with in easy access to the M1 corridor and the ports of Belfast, Larne, Warrenpoint and Dublin,” adds the website. “Our dedicated BREXIT preparation and Customs Clearance teams are also based within Northern Ireland.”
Today, the collective company has over 250 trucks on the road and employs over 400 staff.
Now, Hannon Transport Ltd has submitted an application for development at the Co Armagh site.
And, if approved, the submission indicates that the number of employees attending the site daily would increase by 10 – from 45 to 55.
Hannon Transport is seeking approval to built new office accommodation, as well as storage facilities for “large haulage parts and fixings” in relation to the existing business.
It would see an additional floorspace of over 10,000 sq ft being constructed.
The two-storey building would have storage at ground floor and office accommodation, together with desk area, canteen, toilet provision and board room, at first floor level.
The earmarked site is described as being adjacent to and north east of 21 Brankinstown Road – the current address of Hannon Transport – and is listed in its present use as an “existing haulage yard with associated offices, workshop sheds and lorry wash”.
The application is now with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration with a decision expected in due course.
