A Sister of Mercy nun who was principal of St Michael’s Grammar School in Lurgan for 25 years has died.
Sr Angela (St Anne) Clinton passed away on Saturday in Aughnacloy House in Lurgan.
Sr St Anne was head of the school (now St Ronan’s College) from 1972 to 1997.
Born into a farming family in Ardglass, Co Down, she was the younger daughter of the late Francis and Kathleen and sister of the late Dominic, Mary and Vincent.
Due to the current restrictions the Convent of Mercy in Edward Street will remain private.
Requiem mass will be celebrated in St Peter’s Church tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10.30 am and can be viewed live via the church webcam.
Burial will take place in St Colman’s Cemetery.
A death notice read: “Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her cousins in Dublin, Belfast and County Down and by the Sisters of Mercy, Northern Province, especially her lifetime friend Sr Rita Rodgers.
“Sincerely regretted by former staff and pupils of St Michael’s Grammar School, where she was principal from 1972 to 1997.”
