Police are investigating a series of early-morning burglaries across a number of rural communities outside Lurgan after homes and vehicles were targeted by three individuals in the space of just two hours.
Residents in Derrymacash, Derrytrasna, Ardmore Road and Croaghan View awoke on Tuesday, December 9, to discover break-ins and attempted break-ins at their properties between 3am and 5am.
According to reports, three people were seen entering homes and trying to gain access to parked vehicles.
Several vehicles were successfully entered, with items including power tools and a newly purchased television stolen.
The incidents have sparked concern among families in the area, many of whom were asleep as the suspects moved from property to property in the early hours.
Sinn Féin councillor Catherine Nelson said the spate of burglaries had left households “shaken and concerned”, and she appealed to residents to help police by checking any available footage.
“I’m asking residents to check any CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcam footage from that time,” she said. “The PSNI will be increasing patrols, but our community’s vigilance is vital.
“Please continue looking out for one another, keep vehicles locked and avoid leaving valuables inside where possible. Let’s stand together, support those affected, and help ensure those responsible are held to account.”
Police have asked anyone with information to contact the PSNI on 101, quoting reference CC2025121001444.
