Newline Household Recycling Centre in Lurgan will close for three weeks from Monday, February 9 to Saturday, February 28 to facilitate major resurfacing works.
While residents are being advised to avail of alternative recycling centres in the borough, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) Borough are also urging residents to plan ahead and consider using the Newline recycling centre before the temporary closure, or waiting until the facility reopens once works are completed.
It is anticipated that Newline Household Recycling Centre will reopen to the public on Monday, March 2.
A spokesperson for ABC Council said: “This resurfacing work at Newline Household Recycling Centre is very important for the health and safety of all users to this busy site.
“We understand that these works will cause some inconvenience and disruption and to help minimise this, we are asking users to consider if they can plan ahead or wait until work is complete, to avoid delays at our other recycling centres which are very busy at this time of year.”
They added: “Household Recycling Centres are an integral component of the Council waste management infrastructure, providing opportunities for recycling, reuse and waste disposal and the resurfacing of Newline is essential regarding the maintenance of these facilities.”
